Stanislavsky

When did Stanislavsky start working?- Stanislavsky started acting at the age of 14, joining the family drama circle. He developed his theatrical skills gradually  over time, performing with other acting groups, he then worked his way to become director of stage productions.
 In 1897 he then became the co-founder of the Moscow Arts theatre along with 

Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko Who was also a profound director act the time.


What was occurring socially at the time?-Alexander III became ill with terminal kidney disease and then died and power was handed over to his son Nicholas II who then became the new Tsar.

Why did Stanislavsky start the system?-Stanislavsky believed that actors needed to produce realistic emotion while on stage and, to do so, they could use feelings they'd experienced in their own lives as a stepping block.Stanislavski also developed exercises that encouraged actors to explore character motivations, giving performances more of a realistic feeling.

Who were his contemporaries?- Anton Chekov was known during the time of Stanislavsky, he even revived one of Chekovs plays 'The segulls' at the Moscow Arts Theatre, which also produced Chekov's 'Uncle Vanya' and premiered two of of his last plays 'The Three Sisters' and 'The cherry orchard'

How did he survive the Russian revolution?- After the Russian Revolution of 1917, his factory and all other business property were taken by the Soviet Communists, but he was allowed to own his mansion in Moscow. Stanislavski let go of all his wealth and possessions and expressed himself in writing and directing.
