Review

In the beginning of college my drama skills and knowledge was still at the level of GCSE plus a few things I already knew. In unit 1 I started it with an open mind in order to learn new things without any setbacks. I originally felt comfortable acting with people I socially had a relationship with, but I quickly gained the skill to work with whoever.Throughout the 7 units I learnt about several practitioners such as Brecht, Stanislavsky, and Chekov. I

I also learnt how to improve my articulation when performing using various vocal warm ups e.g tongue twisters, chewing gum, humming at different tones. I believe that this really did help with my vocal projection and articulation.

In grass Harry and I play two 60s British gangsters who are brothers inspired by the Kray Twins who were infamous for organised crime in the East End of London during the 1950s and 1960s. With their gang, known as "The Firm", the Krays were involved in murderarmed robberyarsonprotection rackets and assaults.

To help with my characterisation I have watched interviews about the Krays in order to put myself in the shoes in either one of the brothers shoes, this is essential as it helps the audience understand my who my character is.  In the scene I play a character who has just informed the police of something someone who was once his friend has done. Him and his brother are just bickering about why it was/wasn't a good idea to tell the police.

my character is reserved person who keeps thing short and straight to the point,he has a sense of authority in the duo as his tone is aggressive at times.

In message I play the conscious of a terrorist however i play the angel on the

shoulder, my main objective for this character is to the persuade the mentally ill
person that terrorism is wrong. However at the same time I am having a conflict with the devil on the other shoulder. In order to help with characterisation I watched a few videos of of mentally ill patients with illnesses such as schizophrenia, physcosis. This was essential as this helped me understand the mind of a mentally ill person and further helped my character as my character would have to show a sense of gentleness with the patient our piece.

In Ex I play a young man aged 23 who just came from university who is reconnecting with his ex who is a 22 year old women and  stayed back home to work after many years of not of no communication , the piece will take place in the same house however the both of us are not aware of each other but there are moments where we connect and mark the moment. To help with my character I asked my elder brother who has experience of long distance relationship within university this was essential as it helped me bring out the character a lot better

In Gods voice I play a boxing coach who questions a young religious boxer about God and how all his work is meaningless. In order to help with my character i watched scenes is boxing movies between a coach and a boxer.

In order to self evaluate i will seek feedback from not just my tutor but from my peers and the audience in order to attain a range of feedback to help me work on for the future, i will also analyse my performance thoroughly to observe any mistakes etc. I will document all this on my phone. From time to time i will record myself during rehearsals or any other activity in order see any improvements or anything I need to improve on.

Love and information

Caryl Churchill’s Love and Information is a kaleidoscopic play of short scenes addressing contemporary issues about knowledge, technology and communication, and our capacity for love.

Playwright Caryl Churchill was born on 3 September 1938 in London. She
attended the Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, where she studied English.
'Downstairs' her first play, was written while she was still at university.

She wrote a number of plays for BBC radio including The Ants (1962), Lovesick (1967) and Abortive (1971).

Churchill explores, and questions where we stand in our society. Her focus is on how the information that makes us human beings; our feelings, dreams and minds, are all controlled by all different types of information whether its words, numbers, binary etc. Churchill uses

everyday things in our lives such as the internet, religion, news, politics, social media and questions how does this affect our relationships, our memories? As love and information is an episodic play Churchill gives us a image ourselves, and it is up to us to decide what we make of it.
The play is made up of very short scenes contemporary life in Britain. There are 57 scenes in total, some scenes have dialogue as short as 5 seconds and others
as long as 5 minutes. All the scenes are very discreet Churchill does this to allow the actors to portray their views and opinions through their acting. Every actor has a random character.

'Caryl’s always ahead of the game. She makes it clear that what she understands a new play to be is the kind of play that has never been written before about something that has never been said before in the way in which we should say it'-James Macdonald.

In 1972 Churchill wrote Owners a play with two-acts and 14 scenes and the main themes were about obsession and power. Churchill portrayed her socialist views throughout this play.
